Change is hard. It's surrounded with fear and the unknown and sometimes sadness and heartbreak to leave behind what was. But all too often, we feel guilty about feeling what we truly feel. So, rather than feeling the full weight of our emotions, we drown ourselves in guilt.

Guilty. (arm raised high) I've done it a dozen times before. But today I'm sharing my struggle with it right now, amidst big, scary changes in my own life. If you've struggled with this before or are struggling with it right now, I hope you know you're not alone. And I hope my story and my struggle inspires you to believe that your emotions are worth the work it takes to give yourself permission to experience it.

WHAT'S IN TODAY'S PODCAST:

I share my struggle with big changes and a big move. I open up about my own personal struggle with giving myself permission to experience certain emotions amidst big changes, tough feelings, and guilt.

I can think of no better word to describe Rachel than 'inspiration'. She's full of spunk and sass and all things lovely and packs a mean punch of inspiration, truth, and downright lovableness. You can't help but want to sit down and talk life with her over a glass (er, bottle) of wine!!

She shares a sneak peek into the struggles she dealt with as a new business owner and creative and the struggles she still deals with on a daily basis. We dig deep and discuss the topic of "good enough" and she shares her most recent struggle with us.

It's a must listen to, y'all.

WHAT'S IN TODAY'S PODCAST:

Rachel shares her story of leaving a career in HR to pursue her passion in counseling, working in an eating disorder clinic, launching her inspiration-based company as a watercolor artist/letterer, and her struggle with an autoimmune disease. We talk about ...

  • The struggles of starting a business
  • The never-ending search for "good enough"
  • Finding validation on social media
  • Extending grace in difficult circumstances

The question "Am I enough?" follows me around every day. I struggle with self-worth and "enoughness" amidst the constant that is social media and feeling good in my own skin. I don't think that I'm alone, though. I think this question is one that we all struggle with.

Questioning our worth and doubting whether we're enough is a part of the human struggle. The bad news is that it's something you will struggle with forever. The good news is that you're not alone.

WHAT'S IN TODAY'S PODCAST:

I talk about the question "Am I enough?" and how I struggle with that both in life and in business. I share personal stories and experiences of struggling with my "enoughness" and self-worth.

Heather is one of the first people I told about my dream of starting this podcast. Before I even did my first "how to start a podcast"  search online, I had asked her to be on the podcast. Her story is one that inspires me, and I knew that I wanted to share it with you.

Heather beautifully articulates her story, her thoughts, and makes you feel like you're reading a good book when you talk to her. Her calm presence makes you feel right at home. I hope that her story means as much to you as it does to me.

WHAT'S IN TODAY'S PODCAST:

Heather shares her soul-inspiring story of leaving her career, traveling the world, finding love unexpectedly, and launching a creative business. We talk about ...

  • How we use labels to define ourselves
  • How those labels can be deceiving and even hard to carry
  • Redefining the labels we (and others) use to define us
  • Changing careers and pursuing our passions
  • The struggles of launching a business

I feel like I'm giving the biggest speech of my life, on a stage, in front of thousands of people (or the three who are actually reading this!), and I start mumbling incoherently. Making no sense at all. Wide eyed.

I am at a loss for words, y'all. I honestly cannot even begin to think of what to say that even begins to describe all of the wonderfully thrilling and terrifying emotions I feel right now.

This is the very first episode of the Grit and Glitter Podcast.

Six months ago, I was dreaming about launching this big, beautiful passion project. This morning when I woke up and realized this dream of mine was actually a real thing now, my heart stopped. It was the most beautiful, most terrifying emotion ever.

I hope you love it.

In today's podcast, I'm sharing the "why" and the heart behind the podcast. I'm sharing with you the inspiration behind this dream of mine, where it all started, and why I'm creating this for you. Yes, you.
